Blue Skies Development – update

News on 25 Jun , 2018

Since we last updated the congregation on our Blue Skies Development plans, a lot of progress has been made. As most of you will know we were successful in getting a Climate Challenge grant – Granton Goes Greener – which, in addition to the Climate Project work such as cycling, rescued bread and clothes swap, will allow us to make significant improvements to the windows, heating and lighting in the church buildings.

We have also continued to develop the idea for a new kitchen, working with groups, individuals and experts to get the best from their experience. They have helped us come up with a plan that would see the west hall being used far more effectively for our current lunch club and coffee mornings, and giving lots of scope for exciting new food-based activities.

The Kirk Session have looked at these revised plans and agreed they were an improvement on what was there before. We have updated the display in the coffee area, so have a look at the revised plans when you are next in church. We have a grant application almost ready to be submitted at the end of the month, and if successful, we would see the improvement works starting early next year.
