Out of love for her mother in law Naomi, Ruth goes above and beyond the requirements of Israel’s Law. Her the first act is an act of loving kindness, of faithfulness when she refuses to leave Naomi.
They had both come from a place of heartache and hunger and will go to a place where the harvest is ready and where they will be blessed but the story would have been different if Ruth had not chosen to respond in love to her circumstances.
Ruth became the conduit for God’s love and blessing through the choices she made. Daily we make many choices about how we live.
This Lent will we choose to be the conduit for others of God’s love and blessing?
