Swap Shop – or is it?? What would YOU call it?

For over a year we've been running our highly successful 'Swap Shop' and the Granton Goes Greener project in the West Hall. The 2 main reasons are to reduce the amount of clothing going to landfill and also to give people the chance to re-use clothes. When is a Swap Shop not a swap shop?  We are looking for a new name for the Swap Shop - one that doesn't suggest that you need to bring something in to swap, or to take clothes away if you bring some. Lent starts this week…..Wednesday 6th March

Each day throughout Lent there will be a ‘Thought For The Day’ from the ministry team here at Granton. Lent is the period of 40 days which comes before Easter in our Christian calendar. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. Born in a place foretold but forgotten and ignored by those who should have known better. Shepherds, wise men and angels, not the religi...

Bethany Care Shelter – playing our part

Granton Parish Church has again volunteered our catering talents in support of the Bethany Winter Care Shelter. The Care Shelter provides rough sleepers with a place to go for the night where they can find shelter, a hot meal and a warm place to sleep over the winter, from November until April. The service is run by a skeleton staff from Bethany and relies on around 800 volunteers from churches across the Lothian’s who provide church venues for service users to sleep in on a nightly rota b...
