The event is being held to raise awareness and support for Health in Mind, a local mental health and wellbeing charity based in Edinburgh. Health In Mind provides a unique range of services including counselling, cognitive behavioural therapies, peer support groups, befriending and trauma support. Their work focuses on some of the most excluded and vulnerable people in our society, including people from ethnic minority communities and survivors of childhood abuse. The charity is based on Shandwick Place and operate primarily in Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders.

Alice Clarkson, Fundraiser at the charity, says “At Health in Mind, we understand the importance of raising awareness and opening up the conversation about mental health and wellbeing, and our Blue Cake Day is a great way to do this.”

This idea takes a traditional bake sale and turns it blue to highlight the fact that many of us ‘feel blue’ or experience poor mental health.

Congregations are invited to bring along baked goods (or bought, we won’t tell!) coloured blue with food colouring, blue icing, blueberries or whatever you fancy to sell after the church service, and make a donation to Health in Mind.
