Blue Skies Project off to a flying start with Granton Goes Greener

Following the Congregation’s decision to proceed with refurbishing our church buildings so that we can better serve the community, the Blue Sky Group have been working hard to make that happen.

Late last year an application was made to The Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund for a grant that would allow us to upgrade the windows, insulation and lighting throughout our church buildings.

CLOTHES SWAP & RESCUED BREAD

More importantly it will also allow us to run a clothes swap rail for the wider community and to gather and distribute bread from an Edinburgh bakery chain which can be offered to the community free of charge. These ministries are at the heart of our engagement with the community.

WE NOW HAVE FUNDING

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £88,000 from the Climate Challenge Fund to do all this and we want to publicly thank them for the trust they have placed in us.

All of this gets our development project off to a great start. Consider this as completing Phase 1 with Phase 2 being to renovate the kitchen and toilets. More on that later!

In the meantime please continue to pray for the church. Especially pray that these new ministries will really impact our community with the Gospel.

CLIMATE CHANGE OFFICER

Part of the funding allows us to employ someone to work part time for 3 days per week on the project until March next year. If you know of anyone who may be interested please direct them to www.grantonchurch.org.uk/vacancy. Closing date is Friday 13th April.
