Christmas at Granton – no gimmicks, no gloss!

Every year we choose a theme through which to read the Christmas story.Whilst this roots the story in our culture the links have sometimes been a bit tenuous. Rather than manufacture anything this year, we are going to let the story stand on its own.Over Advent and throughout Christmas we are going to retell the story and let the power of what God did speak clearly to us.No gimmicks, no glitter or gloss, just the power of a story that changed the world. This Year’s Advent Studies

These last few years we have had a thought for the day throughout Advent. This year we are going with a variation in that rather than having a thought for the day we are going to live with the same passage and a series of questions each week. Every day, take a few mins to read the passage and engage with the questions. You will find that as you travel with it you will gain deeper insights than a cursory reading would give. If you like to do these things on your own, find a nice quiet spot, if you like to be around people, why not meet with others over a coffee? There is no right way t...

Bring a Friend to Church on 2nd December

Our faith is not meant to be a private thing or something we keep only to ourselves. Jesus instructed his followers to spread faith all over the world. We invite every person in our congregation to invite a friend with them on Sunday 2nd December.     > FIVE SIMPLE WAYS TO BRING A FRIEND TO CHURCH We have printed some invitation cards for everyone to have in their wallet or purse. These cards should make it easier to invite someone you know to come along with you to try church. Pick up a few from the back of the church, or download from the link below. > bring-a-fri...

Pot Luck Lunch – after Church on Sunday 25th November

It's good to share a meal with friends, so the Nurture Group have decided to hold a pot luck lunch on 25th November after the service. If you would like to join in just bring along your favourite savoury or sweet dish (just make it to feed 4-6 portions as everyone will be bringing something). It can be hot (we can reheat in the oven)  or cold. It can be a family bag of crisps or a plate of sandwiches if you don't cook! Part of the fun is not knowing what people will bring. We could end up with a meal of puddings . The main purpose is to get together as friends and enjoy each other's compa...

Teach Me To Pray course – starts 11th September

We are instructed as Christians to pray continually but not how to pray. The way we pray in church is not the way we pray at home, nor how we might pray walking down the road. There are lots of ways to pray and there are techniques we can use to make prayer easier. This course will help people explore different ways to pray and give you the tools you need to keep prayer at the heart of your Christian life. Whether you are a new Christian or a long time believer there will be something here for you.
