After the successful launch of Granton Goes Greener on Saturday 30 June we are delighted to announce that the Clothing Swap Shop will now be staffed by volunteers at the following times:
4-30 – 6pm Tuesdays (during the Community Meal)
12 – 1pm Fridays
These are the times when people will be around to collect your donations and help you choose your next favourite outfit. The clothes rails are available to browse in the West Hall any time that the church building is open. We ask that you weigh any clothes that you donate or pick up so we can work out how much carbon we’re saving, which we need to report to our funders the Climate Challenge Fund.
We’re looking for volunteers to staff the swap shop on Mondays and Fridays (we already have enough volunteers for the Tuesdays). You will need to help sort clothes, make sure the rails are stocked, weigh donations and the items that people take away and chat to people.
If you’re interested please contact Juliet on 552 3033 or email email@example.com.
4 TOP TIPS FOR REDCUCING CLOTHES WASTE
OLD IS GOOD
Don’t forget the old items hanging in the back of your wardrobe! If they still fit, wear them more often, if they no longer fit, donate them to the Swap Shop!
REPAIR BEFORE REPLACE
Repair your clothes – either take them to a local tailor or learn the sewing skills yourself!
REFASHION IS THE NEW NEW!
Refashion your clothes – this is more ambitious but you could make an old item of clothing into something that looks fresh and new!
If your old clothes aren’t in good enough condition to donate to the Swap Shop then you could wear them when you do the decorating or rip them up to make floor cloths? Or you can recycle them in textiles recycling bins
