Sunday Service - "Work: how faith impacts on it"

Everyone is warmly welcome to our Sunday services.

Our worship style could be described as ‘informal contemporary’, with elements of ‘traditional’ thrown in for good measure.

We recognise the importance of getting to know each other and do this both during the ‘welcome’ and after services over tea and coffee.

Prayer after the service

There are times when people need specific prayer for specific situations and do not with to ask in the ‘prayers for others’.

Norman is available for anyone who wishes prayer after the service. Please sit down at the front if you would like this.

INFORMATION FOR VISITORS

Members of the Welcome Team will be pleased to provide details of any of the topics below – they are easily recognised by their name badges.

We provide crèche facilities during the morning service.

Feel free to sit anywhere within the congregation as there are no personalised seats.

Toilets are located in the vestibule at the back of the church and also just through the door on the pulpit side of the church.

We can arrange transport home if you need it.

Want to know more? Should you wish more information on who we are and how we live out our calling to be the church in Granton, speak to any of our welcome team or visit our website, where you can also sign up to receive our weekly eBulletin.

20:00 – Company & Senior Section (P7 to age 18)

Each week The Boys’ Brigade works with thousands of young people, many of whom have no other connection with the Church. Today we are working with over 60,000 children & young people in over 1500 companies (groups) in the UK & Republic of Ireland every week.

The Boys’ Brigade provides a balanced programme of activities for children and young people from 5 to 18 years old. These resources have been developed to help volunteer youth leaders work in a relevant and creative way. We hope through these programmes they will be able to make a positive contribution to a young person’s life and be able to share their faith.

Our work is split into age groups as follows:

Where have we come from?

The Boys’ Brigade has been around for over 125 years and in 2008 we celebrated our 125th Anniversary. Our Founder Sir William Alexander Smith, included in our Object “The Promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness” and that has not been changed.

What has changed is how we go about promoting that object. We recognise that the influences surrounding our young people are not always helpful and that too many lose control at great cost to themselves, their families and the community. The answer is to catch the energy and enthusiasm of youth and to channel it purposefully.

Our Object

The Object of The Boys’ Brigade is:

“The advancement of Christ’s kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.”

This Week’s Bulletin
