Earth Day and Single Use Plastics – invitations

granton goes greener

We have been invited to join St Andrew’s Clermiston to celebrate Earth Day on Sunday, 22nd April.

There is a  church service at 10.30am on Sunday morning involving children from Clermiston Primary School Eco-group, Clermiston District Brownies and Craig-almond Cubs all of whom will share news on their current Eco projects with us. In the afternoon they are going to plant wild flowers and a fruit tree in the church grounds (depending on the weather).

At 7pm on the Sunday evening there will be an Environmental Community Event in conjunction with Edinburgh Western Labour Party when we will have speakers, Gus Egan from Earth Calling and Cath McInally from Norwex.   Earth Calling is involved with Environmental Projects on Corstorphine Hill and Norwex is a cleaning system that protects rather than damages the environment. There will be the opportunity to discuss local issues and look for local solutions.  Refreshments and a Fair Trade stall will be available. This is an open evening to which everyone is invited and sounds like a very interesting day. It is always useful to join in other church’s activities to gain ideas! Contact Karen Keil <>

Queensferry Parish Church are holding a coffee morning on 26th May to raise awareness of single use plastics and how to reduce these. I attach a poster for you to put up. If anyone has any suggestions for a group who would run a stall selling alternatives to single use plastics, such as  keep cups, reusable bags and straws etc the organisers would be pleased to know.
