During Lent we will be encouraging everyone to take part in an Eco-Challenge. There will be challenges that we can all do together to reduce our carbon footprint. The first challenge continues – clothes swap – and we’re now ready to start the second challenge!
This is all part of our commitment as an Eco-Congregation in identifying small ways we can help tackle climate change and look after the environment, both as a church and individually.
If you want to find out more, speak to our Eco-Ambassador, Catriona Jeorrett.
THE SECOND CHALLENGE – REDUCE FOOD WASTE
The second challenge is to eliminate food waste by freezing leftovers and weighing portions of pasta to avoid cooking too much.
Eco-fact: “A staggering 30-40% of the food produced in the world is never eaten. This says nothing of the gross injustice of wasting so much food while so many in the world go hungry.”
John 6:12 Good News Translation (GNT)
When they were all full, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces left over; let us not waste a bit.”
