Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2021 is being marked on Sunday 27th January with a number of virtual and at home events. It marks 76 years years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. We will be marking this day in our online service.
Don’t be content in your life just to do no wrong, be prepared every day to try and do some good.
– Sir Nicholas Winton, who rescued 669 children from Nazi-occupied Europe
Attend a virtual HMD event…
Our Activity Map shows just some of the HMD events that are taking place nationwide. Search with your postcode, or by the type of activity you’d like to take part in. There are plenty of online activities on the map which you can join from home. If you’re organising an event, let us know so that more members of the public can find an activity near them and get involved.
Join the nation and #LightTheDarkness
At 8pm on 27 January, get ready to Light the Darkness with us. Households across the UK will be lighting candles and putting them in their windows to:
- remember those who were murdered for who they were
- stand against prejudice and hatred today
Upload a photo of your candle on social media using the hashtags #HolocaustMemorialDay and #LightTheDarkness
Watch the UK Ceremony for HMD
For the first time, and in keeping with social distancing guidelines, the UK Ceremony for HMD will be fully virtual. Register below to watch the ceremony live at 7pm on 27 January.
