Welcome Ministries

One of the ways that we can all get involved in the life of our church is to volunteer to help with some of the many rotas that we operate on a weekly basis. Being on the Welcome Ministry rotas is about so much more than taking your turn – we believe that it is an essential ministry in the church and a chance to reflect our Christian calling.
Welcome Lead
What is it?
Opens up at 10am and locks up after teas and coffees.
Responsible for making sure that everyone on ‘rotas’ has turned up and knows that they are ‘on’. Fill any gaps that arise. Welcome Lead is also the 2nd Inner Welcome person, so greets people as they come into church, standing with the other person on Inner Welcome.
Sits in the coffee area during the service to welcome any latecomers or direct folk to toilet etc. Be around the vestibule area when folk leave, saying a cheerio.
Who can do it?
Cheery, welcoming and engaging qualities are best.

Hand out Bulletins. Try to encourage people to sit towards the front if possible. This role finishes during the service Welcome (only the Welcome Lead remains at the back and needs to see people off)

Turn up 30 minutes before the service to prepare the audio visual kit – make sure that the slides have synced properly, start the intro loop and check that it links properly to the main slides. Operate the desk during the service. Test and operate the cameras, check Zoom sound…there’s a lot more to it and you need to have your wits about you!
