Main Duties
The duties of Church Officer, or ‘Beadle’ are shared amongst a number of members on a rota system.

open double gate on
Wardieburn Road
- open West Hall door
- turn on Jackson Boiler at back of church
- unlock vestry door
- go through church and unlock south transcept
door - unlock Boswall Parkway gate
- unbolt main doors and open one half
- switch on main sound desk switch (on wall)
- check list on vestry cupboard for for colour of pulpit falls, and change if necessary
- get Bible out of Vestry cupboard and mark
reading
10.00
- meet with Norman for prayer at front of church or in
Choir room - switch church lights on (at lighting cupboard)
- switch on Apse lights (beside organ and lectern)
10.15
- switch on bells (in tower – switch on at wallswitch and
press ‘play’

- take Bible to pew in north trancept, ready to be placed on lectern at
start of service - light candle on communion table
10.30
- meet with Norman in vestry for short prayer
- stop bells from playing
- turn tape over and put back in (for next
week) - lock west hall door (if no PATCH) and vestry door
- take Bible to lectern (on Norman’s cue)
After Service
- Bible back to cupboard
- candle out
- lights off
- lock up
