Praying Together as a Church

We take prayer here seriously. We recognise through prayer we share our concerns with God but also try and listen to God’s voice.

Sounds easy enough except its not.

Thursday 14th March from 6 till 7pm and Wednesday 20th March from 2-3pm

Anyone who has ever been asked to pray in public knows it’s really hard because we are afraid others will see how shaky our faith is compared to theirs or how we don’t have the words they do. Rather than building us up, praying together can have the opposite effect.

There are techniques that help us find ways of expressing our prayers and identifying those things we really want to pray for. Similarly there are techniques that help us become more confident prayers.

Jesus himself said “where two or three are gathered there I am”. He set the principle of praying together (not necessarily using words) in the same space at the same time. As a congregation we are going to give people the chance to pray together in the same space.

On Thursday 14th March from 6 till 7pm and Wednesday 20th March from 2-3pm  the church will be open with one of the Ministry Team present to help people gather in prayer. There will be items to help people pray, learn techniques for prayer and identify those things they want to pray for. There will be no expectation that anyone will pray out loud but you may if you wish. See Norman for more details. Hope to see you there!
