Message: Casting a wide net

This week's takeaway from church

Casting a wide net

Fishing with a rod is very different to fishing with a net. A rod targets one specific fish: you pick your bait and your position carefully to target just one. A net on the other hand scoops up everything,
Jesus didn’t want his Church to be a closed group of only the select few who understood the message completely, he wanted the doors to be opened wide. That does bring a risk, there will be people in there who don’t get it or who even have bad motives. But that’s the risk we take in being an inclusive community.

As Billy Graham said, “It is the Holy Spirit’s job to convict, God’s job to judge and my job to love.”
