But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
Matthew 19: 30
Jesus liked to shake things up, to turn social constructs on their head, and have us look at the world in a wholly new and different way. Those in power are reminded that being in power is not the end all be all in the kingdom of God. Instead of spending so much time wanting to climb up the ladder of hierarchy, Jesus reminds us that we should focus and spend our time caring for those who haven’t even tried to grasp the first rung of the ladder.
Prayer: Loving God, you continue to teach us what the kingdom of God is like. You remind us the importance of caring for those who don’t think they are worthy of love. Help us to beacons of your love and your light in a world that needs it. Amen.
Action: What is a way you can care for people who feel like they have been forgotten?
