Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
Matthew 21: 31b – 32
The startling thing in this passage is that it was the tax – gatherers and prostitutes who believed John the Baptist’s message, not the religious leaders.
Christians who can express their faith in fine words are often admired and what they say is helpful, but in the end of the day it is our actions that mark us out!
Prayer: Living God, I find it difficult to speak about what I believe, but I do love helping people. Thank you for valuing my actions and help me to be even more generous with my time and talents.
Action: Set yourself a goal of at least one good deed a day. A phone call counts!
