“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Matthew 24: 42 – 44
Are you ready? Are you on your guard? We have each at some point in our lives been told to be ready for something. We have had different things in our lives that we have needed to be ready for. Now, it is easier to be ready when we have an idea or when things are going to happen. We can do the prep work and wait and keep our eyes open when we know the end date. We like to have the comfort of knowing when we can stop doing all the work to be ready, yet we don’t know when to expect Jesus. We are called to be ready all the time. Now, this doesn’t mean to be on high alert all the time, but this is an invitation for us to continue to serve God daily through how we live our lives. It is an invitation, and a way to form and shape our lives.
Prayer: Loving God, we give you thanks that you have promised to love us and promised to not leave us alone. Help us to continue to be on the lookout for you by loving and serving you through loving and serving others. Amen.
Action: Continue to love and serve God.
