Thought for The Day – Monday 14th June

matthew post

The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

Matthew 27: 51b – 53

This event is something that we today probably can’t imagine, or fully wrap our heads around. Yet, it is something that makes this event, this moment, even more spectacular. People who were dead were living again. All of this takes place when Jesus died. This speaks to the power of the sacrifice that was made by Jesus on our behalf. We might not have the same experience of the earth shaking, but we can be amazed and grateful at how much love was poured out for us, that we might have life eternal.

Prayer: Amazing God, you showed us what love looks like, when you sacrificed your only Son, that we might have life, and have it abundantly. May we always be grateful and amazed by this gift which goes beyond our own comprehension. Thank you for loving us more than we could ever ask. Amen

Action: Take time to be amazed by the ways God is working in your life and in this world
