Thought for The Day – Saturday 23rd January

“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Matthew 18: 15 – 19

There have been times when being right has seemed more important than trying to rebuild a relationship. The question for each of us is what matters more. If the person and that relationship matter more than being right, then reconciliation is so important. The people you reconcile with here will be with you the rest of your life. The question for us is what do we hold more important, being right or reconciling.

Prayer: Loving God, you call us to love people, and forgive others as you have forgiven us. Help us to follow in your ways so that we can put love first, and forgive people and be reconciled. Amen.

Action: Who is one person you can forgive and be reconciled with?
