While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
Luke 2: 6 – 7
So much is made of Jesus being born in a stable. We have stable tableau everywhere! We call them nativity sets and they come in every shape/size imaginable. Yet in concentrating on the stable we often miss that this is God entering our world. Whether it was in a 5 star hotel or a stable doesn’t really matter. What is important is God took the initiative and entered our world as a child. Christmas day is not about the stable or the inn or the wisemen but about God coming into the world.
Next time you wonder about how far you might go for someone else, consider how far God went for you! He entered this world as a child!
Prayer: Thank you Father for being you. You came into this world and I really don’t deserve what you did. My gratitude goes beyond words for everything you have done for me.
Action: If you got what you wanted or if you didn’t, remember to be grateful to God for what he has already done for you!
