Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel (Php 1:27)
This crisis is one of those times when it’s hard to know what it means to be a faithful Christian. No one knows what faithfulness looks like in the middle of a lockdown because this has never happened before. And yet that is still our responsibility. Paul says we are to be faithful ‘whatever happens’, be that good times, bad times, or even global pandemics.
However the passage also gives us the encouragement that it’s not just up to us. Instead we are all ‘striving together as one for the faith of the gospel’. No one of us has all the answers for this crisis (not even Norman!) but together as one family we can figure out what it means to be faithful and how we can continue to be salt and light for the world through this current crisis
Prayer: Lord help me to be faithful to you today. Grant me the wisdom to understand how I can live out the Gospel today.
Action: Where have you seen someone living out their Christian faith through this crisis. Think about sharing that story either with friends or online.
