Lent Thought for the day – #TFTD – 31st March

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Eph 2:10) What Good Works can you do today?

Our passage today reminds us what our calling in this world is, to do the good works God has prepared for us to do. We have been told here what it is we are to be out in the world doing. Now comes the part of discerning what that looks like. We do know that it is going to look different right now as we stay home and socially distance ourselves from other people when we are outside.

It is in these times of isolation when those good works which God prepared in advance for us to do are most needed. There is such a need for goodness and kindness in these times when people are experiencing all the comes along with being in lockdown. What good works can you today? How are you allowing the light of God to shine forth in these dark times?

Prayer: Loving God, thank you for creating me to do good works in this world. Help me show your love in this world by doing good works. Amen.

Action: Find something good you can do for someone or a group of people. Bonus: Don’t just take this on for one day, but have this be a way of life for you.
