Thought for the Day – Sunday 23rd August

Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”

Matthew 11 : 4 – 6

Ask someone about the best meal they’ve ever had and they will tell you a wonderful story of the experience of having tasted it. They say it’s the best because they were there and they experienced it for themselves. When John’s disciples came to Jesus asking if he was the Messiah, he never gave them a long series of arguments in his defence. He merely pointed to the evidence. See for yourselves is what he said.

Your strongest argument for Christian faith is how you live the life so that others can experience it. How you live, how you treat others, how you interact,  how you speak, what you do. All those things will influence the people round you far more than anything else. So, if you want to share the Christian faith you must live the Christian faith.

Prayer: Jesus, you set such a high example it challenges me every day because I know I cannot match it. Help me not to use this as an excuse not to try. Even if its hard, let me life be a shining light of faith to those I meet.

Action: Live the faith!
