Thought for the Day – Tuesday 4th August

matthew post

These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Matthew 10 : 2 – 4

Who makes the perfect Christian? The fishermen with a long experience of hard work who appreciate the bounty of the seas? The doctor who understands how intricate and well designed human beings are? The tax collector who although despised for being a collaborator has tried to practice an honest profession?

You have probably looked at someone else and thought they are a much better Christian than me. Thankfully there is no perfect Christian; we are all works in progress. Thankfully as well God loves each of us at our worst. He knows the deepest darkest thoughts you have and he still loves you!

Prayer: Father thank you for loving me as I am. Thank you that our role model is Jesus and we do not need to live up to or compare ourselves to anyone else but him.

Action: Consider how uniquely each person is made and all of them in the image of God.
