Thought for the Day – Thursday 13th August

The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!

Matthew 10 : 24 – 25

Local religious leaders were insulting Jesus be maintaining his power came not from God but from the Devil. They were terrified at the notion Jesus might be the start of something bigger; a movement that would spread across the world. Which it did! How did Christianity spread?

People tried their best to emulate Jesus. Christianity spread because Christians demonstrated what it meant to follow Jesus. At first they weren’t even called Christians but people of ‘the way’, such was the distinctive nature of their lives.

For us today the challenge of living a distinctive lifestyle is still there. What differentiates a Christians life from a non-Christians?

Prayer: Father give me the courage to live a distinctive life. Help my life to be attractive to others in how I show the difference Jesus makes to how I live.

Action: Try and identify what makes your life different because of your faith?
