And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Matthew 14: 32 – 33

There is a great video online with a group of Adele impersonators all auditioning for a job. What they don’t know is that one of them, ‘Jenny’, is actually the real Adele disguised under a wig and prosthetics. None of them can tell it’s her until she starts to sing. And then one by one the begin to realise that, this isn’t just an impression, this is the real deal. It’s a really heart-warming video.

When you realise who someone is it can change everything. The disciples had been with Jesus for a long time, they had seen miracles and they clearly respected him as a teacher. But now the penny was starting to drop: this was just a skilful teacher, a worker of miracles, or even another Prophet, this man was something new. He was the Son of God. It would still be some time before the came to fully understand who Jesus was, but this was the moment the realised that Jesus was like no other person would ever meet.

Many people find Jesus interesting as a historical figure or a moral teacher, but the Christian journey begins when you realise that Jesus is special, and you decide to follow him.

Pray: Lord Jesus, you are not like any other person, you are the Son of God, even the winds and waves obey you. I choose to follow you, even through difficult storms, and to put you first.

Act: How you make following Jesus you priority today?
