While we’re not able to gather together for meetings, that’s no reason to stop meetings.
Fortunately there is simple technology which allows people with even just basic computer equipment, to take part in meetings.
For as long as we can’t meet together for Sunday services, one of the ministry team will record a video message each week. There will be a new video message every Sunday morning.
Over time we might move to live video streaming on Sundays, but that will take some time to get set up and tested.
The first video message will appear on Sunday 22nd March.
Don’t forget to pick up the phone to speak to friends and neighbours. Simple and familiar – anyone can use this!
Great for video conversations up to 4 people on Smartphones.
If you are already on Whatsapp then this is a really easy way to make virtual Face to Face contact with someone else who has Whatsapp.
For a one-to-one video conversation, simply find the person you want to speak to in your Whatsapp contacts and press the Video button.
To add more people to the chat, just press the + button at the top of the screen and find the next person in your Whatsapp contacts.
You can add up to 3 people, plus yourself, to this sort of chat.
How would you like to see your friends faces and hear their voices?
We are going to use Zoom to create as many online groups as we can where we can meet online to chat and encourage one another.
There will be a chance for anyone who is able to be a part of this.
Drop Norman or Chas a line if you are interested.
Zoom is pretty straighforward to use.
There are 2 roles – ‘Host’ and ‘Participant’. These instructions are for Participants.
You simply have to follow a link that is sent to you by the meeting organiser and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: You do not have to have a Zoom account to attend a Zoom meeting. You will be prompted to download the software, once you have clicked on the link that you have been provided. You may also wish to create an account, but that is not required to participate in a Zoom meeting.
Allow an extra few minutes before joining your first ZOOM meeting as you will need to follow instructions to install the software on your device..
ZOOM is a very powerful tool, and meeting hosts will read up on the features and try things out.
Zoom is going to be useful for meeting together. It’s simple to use and carries no cost.
What you need:
laptop, Chromebook, tablet or PC with webcam and microphone
an internet connection
What we can use it for:
Larger meetings – we can have up to 100 participants!
We can see and hear each other, we can share our screens – e.g. maybe a Powerpoint presentation or some Bible text.
