Our prayers today turn to the talkers and the listeners. The Bible is clear that we should always be ready to explain our faith. Sometimes this will involve words and other times silence. Yet knowing when to speak and when to be quiet is difficult. The right thing to do doesn’t actually depend on us but on the person we are with. Do they need us to say the right words or do they need us to listen?
Pray today that we would know when to speak and when to be quiet. If you are a talker pray that God would help you to listen; if you are a listener that God would help you to find the words.
God of past, present and future, we seek direction
for the life of our Church and for ourselves,
and remember that all concerns and anxieties
should be placed within Your hand.
Where we have heard Your voice
may we step into the future that appears
with all the uncertainties and unknowns
to be explored.
Keep our eyes open to places of need,
and our ears open to the call
to new ways of being Your people.
