On Sunday 10th April, Granton Parish Church welcomed 12 people into our church family.
Nathan, Paul, Jo, Max, Natalie, Pauline, Maureen, Andrew, Stan, Pat, Mihaly and Tetiana. 10 professions of faith to full membership, 1 profession of faith to adherent and 1 transfer from another parish.
With the youngest being 17 and the oldest over 80, all ages were represented.
Since the start of lockdown Granton have used Zoom to grow a geographically diverse congregation with one of those joining coming from the Scottish Highlands and another 2 from Greater London. All became involved in congregational life through regular Sunday attendance and small group ministry. The other 9 reside both in the parish itself and across Edinburgh having also become part of the church family through regular involvement in church life.
On the day, each person took vows of faith, was presented with a Bible by the Kirk Session and was given a church mentor who will walk with them on their faith journey.
Reverend Norman Smith, minister of the charge said, “Seeing God’s Spirit active in the lives of people up and down the country is an amazing thing.”
